Mrs. McConnell, daughter of Florence (Struwe) and John Coverdell, was born June 12, 1930 in Austin, Minn. She graduated in 1949 from Diagonal High School. She furthered her education attending Riseda County Night School and Pierce College in California. In 1949, she married Keith McConnell. Two sons were born to this union, Thomas Gene and Jack Dennis. She furthered her education attending Riseda County Night School and Pierce College in California. In 1949, she married Keith McConnell. Two sons were born to this union, Thomas Gene and Jack Dennis. Keith, Alyce, Tom and Jack moved to California in 1966. She was employed as a clinic nurse and supervisor for 18 years at the Jewish Home of the Aged in Southern California. She enjoyed this work very much. Alyce and Keith, returned to Iowa in 1986, living in Mt. Ayr. She was a member of the Methodist Church and past member of Friendly Neighbors CLub in Diagonal and Harriet Mills Foundation and Nurses of California. Survivors include her husband, Keith McConnell of Mount Ayr, a son, Jack (wife Nancy) McConnell of Mount Ayr; a daughter-in-law Karen McConnell of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Thomas Gene McConnell of Smi Valley, CA; Angela Marie Lopez of Las Vegas, NV., and Keith Dukes McConnell of Mount Ayr; and one great-grandchild, David Thomas Lopez of Las Vegas, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents beloved son Thomas Gene and brother Jim Coverdell.
