The body was removed to Grand Digue where the funeral on Monday was largely attended. The deceased was born Feb. 15th, 1807 at Grand Digue and married in 1834 to Miss Modeste FOSTER of Memramcook. During a married life of more than 55 years, they had fourteen children. Among whom are Julie BABIN w/o William BABIN and Justine LEBLANC w/o Auguste P.B. LEBLANC of Moncton; Philomene POIRIER w/o Andre S. POIRIER, merchant of Shediac; and Francois BOURGEOIS, in religion Sister Marie Regina. Of these 14 children, all are living but three, two of whom died young, the third deceased being Marguerite POIRIER who by her marriage to Raphael POIRIER was the mother of Mrs. Narcisse A. LANDRY of Bathurst and Charles H. POIRIER, merchant of Shediac. The deceased Amand Bourgeois was one of a family of eleven, whom two only are now living, namely Celeste BREAU w/o Lazare BREAU and mother of Pierre L. BREAU, in the store of O.M. Melanson, M.P.P. and Angele HEBERT w/o Laurent HEBERT of Shediac. Deceased came from a long-lived family, his grandfather, Benj. BOURGEOIS, who came from Port Royal, having died in 1827 at the patriarchal age of 96. Benj. Bourgeois was the son of the first Bourgeois who left France for Acadia at the beginning of the 17th Century. NOTE: Daniel F Johnson, Has left out a few generations Pierre Benjamin Bourgeois 1726-1821, was the son of Claude Bourgeois 1695-1760/1763, was the son of Germain Bourgeois 1650-1711, the son of Jacques (Jacob) Bourgeois 1621-1701 the first Bourgeois who left France for Acadia at the beginning of the 17th Century.
