Read More	Coon Rapids Enterprise August 12, 1921 Mrs. Geo. W. Stout died Monday evening very suddenly. She was in her usual health up to the day before her death, doing some shopping in town Saturday, and on the evening of her demise doing some work in the garden. She was unexpectedly taken with severe pains between the shoulder blades. A doctor was called who left some medicine but a short time afterwards she died. However, she had been afflicted with heart disease for several years though not thought to be of a serious nature. Relatives have provided us with the following interesting obituary: Mrs. Amanda Stout died at her home one mile north of Coon Rapids, August 8th, 1821, at the age of 63 years, eight months and 29 days. She was sick but a few hours, being taken so suddenly that none of the children were present except Miss Fanny. Amanda Ellen Shetler was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, December 9th, 1857. When a child of seven she with her parents moved from there to Coon Rapids, coming in moving wagons and driving several hundred head of sheet to their new home. They settled on a farm, now occupied by the present town site; living in a log cabin standing where the Ed. McDonald residence now stands. At this time the railroad had not gone through and all that was then of the present town was a few buildings in the locality of Old Fort Sumpter. Her father was storekeeper, postmaster and Justice of the Peace for sometime. In 1873 she was united in marriage to George Wilmer Stout. To this union were born 10 children, three having died in infancy. The living ones are Miss Fannie Stout, Mrs. Doris Johnston, Mrs. Bertha Merk, Mrs. Isabel Carpenter, Cyrenius, Oliver and Kenneth. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Anna Smalley of Ashland, Ohio and Mrs Mary Holmes of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The children are all residents of the Coon Rapids vicinity the boys and Fanny living with their mother on the present home place which has been the Stout home for over 40 years. The remains were laid at rest in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Rev. H. G. Hicks conducted the funeral services at the home Wednesday afternoon. She was a good wife and loving mother, being greatly devoted to her family, home and friends. She will be greatly missed by her loving children who realize that the heart of the home is now gone and can never be replaced.
