Mrs. Amanda E. Kerr died at the home of her son, Jesse H. Kerr, in this city, at an early hour Friday morning, December 9th (1910). She had not been well for some time and about a week or more ago had a severe attack. The end came suddenly. The day before her death she was feeling better and apparently had rested well through the night, but on being called for breakfast it was found that she had passed away, presumably a little while before. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Reverend Geo. Blagg. The body was laid to rest in the Concord cemetery, Amanda E. Miller was born in Clinton county, Ohio, November 17th, 1842, and was aged 68 years and 22 days at her death. She came with her parents to Knox county, Illinois, in the fall of 1852, thence to Morning Sun in the fall of 1853. She was united in marriage to Richard R. Kerr, October 1st, 1863. To them were born nine children, one daughter and eight sons. The daughter, Mrs. A. D. Woods, died July 30, 1890. The eight sons together with thirty-one grandchildren mourn her departure. Mr. Kerr died November 20th, 1906. She was a member of the M. E. church and had attended the services as regularly as her condition would permit.
