Description	:	Ambrose W. Naughton, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6th Ave. and 5th St., DeWitt. Father Robert Harness will preside at the mass. The wake will be held 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the gathering space area. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Nelson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ambrose was born Oct. 25, 1922, in DeWitt, the son of the late John B. and Margaret A. (McDonnell) Naughton. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1942. He married Mayme Cousins in 1943. She died in 1946. He then married Margaret Donahue on Oct. 10, 1949, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She died on Oct. 17, 2002. He was employed for Dupont as a splitting operator until his retirement in 1981. He did carpentry work throughout his life and was always ready to help anyone out. He always said this wasn't his work but just his hobby. He served his country honorably in the Army during World War II. Ambrose was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ambrose loved to dance, playing cards, and was an avid White Sox fan. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles Morel (Catherine Ann and Chuck) Morel, DeWitt, Jean Marie Duncan, Decatur, Ark.; three sons, Mr. Patrick (Mrs. Peggy) Naughton, DeWitt, Mr. William Naughton, Olive Branch, Miss., Mr. Michael (Mrs. Bekah) Maughton, DeWitt; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a special friend, Anna Parrott, DeWitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, four brothers, and three sisters. (Source: Quad City Times, 7/2/2005)
