Death was caused by cancer. Mrs. Jaster was a native of Germany where she was born January 6, 1860. Her maiden name was Amelia Martens. She came with her parents to America when a girl of seventeen and was later united in marriage with Gottlieb Jaster. He passed away fifteen years ago and she made her home with her son, Herman Jaster, of late years. Another son, Emll, and three daughters survive her. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the residence at 2 o'clock with services at 2:30 in the Johnson township Lutheran church with Rev. Gustavo Meyer officiating. ******************** Le Mars Globe-Post, July 5, 1931 FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SATURDAY Mrs. Emilie Jaster Laid To Rest in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery Mrs. Emilie Jaster nee Marten, passed away Thursday morning at 6 o'clock, June 30, 1932, at her home in Washington township at the age of 72 years, five months and 24 days. Death was caused by cancer from which she suffered for almost a year. She was up and around until the last three weeks. Deceased was born in Pommern, Germany, in the year 1860. She came to this country at the age of 17. In the year 1879 she was united in marriage to Gottlieb Jaster. After their marriage they lived near Earlville, Iowa, for nine years, coming to Plymouth county in 1889, settling near Le Mars, Iowa. Here they went through many hardships but through toil and labor they secured a beautiful home. This union was blest with eleven children, five children and the husband preceded her in death. Six children who survive are, Herman, Emil, Emma, Alvina, Mrs. Fred Heeren and Mrs. Everett Heeren and one brother. Seven grandchildren also mourn her departure. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Johnson township Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Gustave Meyer officiating. The body was laid to rest In the St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery.
