Read More	Funeral Services held Wednesday Afternoon for Mrs. Amelia Pilling – Funeral services were held at Mediapolis Methodist Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, for Mrs. Amelia Pilling, who died Sunday, 2 Mar. at the home of her son, Dr. Charles F. Oberman, Cherokee. Services were in charge of Rev. G. M. Rosenberger. Burial was made in Pleasant Grove Cem. Mrs. Pilling had been making her home with her son and wife since the death of her husband, William Pilling, 27 Mar. 1946. Her son reported that she was conscious to the end and was greatly strengthened by the minister of Rev. J. E. Feller of the Methodist Church, Cherokee, who read scripture and had prayer with her on Saturday evening and on Sunday morning before her death. Mrs. Pilling was born 24 Feb. 1868, in Des Moines County, Iowa, the daughter of Christopher and Minnie Fitzke. She was married to Charles F. Oberman approximately 50 years ago. To this union was born a son, Dr. Charles F. Oberman of Cherokee. Before the birth of their own son, the Oberman's had taken into their home Louis E. Smith, as a lad of six years. Mr. Oberman died 11 Nov. 1902. Mrs. Pilling moved from the farm to Mediapolis and has made that her home with the exception of the past two years which she has spent with her son. On Oct. 4, 1906, she was united in marriage with William Pilling. Mrs. Pilling became a member of Mediapolis Methodist Church in 1912. Besides the two sons, Mrs. Pilling is survived by four grandchildren. A brief service was held at Cherokee Monday evening for the friends she had made during her brief stay in that community.
