Amon was the son of the late Bruce and Etta Mae McManus Laney and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah Aldridge Laney; six children, Mitchell Laney(Air Force- Retired) and wife, Robbie of Yorktown, VA, Marcia Regans and husband, Jack of Indian Trail, NC, Cindy Wooten and husband, Steve of Mineral Springs, NC, Kim Simpson and husband, Ronnie of Weddington, NC, Amy Williams and husband Barry of Monroe, NC, Mike Laney (Air National Guard) and wife, Ashley of Indian Trail, NC; 15 grandchildren; Chad Regans and wife, Kristen, Jeff Laney and wife, Cassie, Beth Regans, Sarah Crowder and husband, Anthony, Lauren Wooten, Cynthia Wooten, Jennifer Toth, Michelle Simpson, Ashley Laney, Zach Toth, Chris Simpson, Cody Williams, Jacob Laney, Micah Laney and Grace Laney; 9 great- grandchildren, Kendra Crowder, Kali Crowder, Noah Laney, Alyssa Laney, Slade Crowder, Willow Crowder, and three more on the way this year; sisters, Margie Moore of Columbia, SC, Dean Matney of Cayce, SC, Sylvia Rock of W. Columbia, SC, Georgia Leuth of Indian Trail, NC; and brother, Bill Laney of Columbia, SC. He was proceeded in death by brother, John Bruce Laney and sisters, Jerry Laney and Virginia Laney Guice. A service to celebrate his life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 23rd in the Sossamon Chapel of First Baptist Church Indian Trail with Rev. Michael T. Whitson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 6525 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail.
