After he had spent his early years near Davenport, the family located near Malcom. He was married Feb. 27, 1895, to Ida May Royce at Grinnell. They started housekeeping on a farm near Malcom and lived there for 52 years, moving to Brooklyn in the fall of 1917. To this union were born four children, two sons, and two daughters, Winnifred (Mrs. Arnold Sevenbergen) of Grinnell, Harley H of Brooklyn, Ellsworth of Davenport, and Ora (Mrs. John Fuerst) of Malcom. He was a good father, a loving husband, and a genial, kindly man and will be missed by a large cadre of friends. -from a newspaper obituary
