Description	:	Amos Robar 1956 Bridgewater Bulletin Amos Robar, age 40, son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Robar, North River, was instantly killed on Thursday, May 17th, while working on the highway three miles from New Germany on the Middleton highway at a place called the Peppermill Brook where Mr. Robar and other workers, Ervin Daniels, Everett, Maurice, and Milton Robar, with Fred Demone, as foreman, were excavating a culvert, when the highway collapsed, hurling nine feet of gravel on the unfortunate man. The other workmen escaped injuries. Due to the absence of the local doctors, Dr. M.C. Feener, Bridgewater, was called to the scene, who pronounced death due to fractures of the skull. Amos Robar was unmarried and lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Robar, North River. Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Ernest and Fred of North River; four sisters, Flo (Mrs. William Lowe), East Dalhousie; Laura (Mrs. Irvin Daniels), North River; Sadie (Mrs. Stanley Burgoyne), Springfield; and Verna (Mrs. Ronald Saulnier), Falkland Ridge; and two step-sisters, Beulah (Mrs. Alvin Acker) and Evelyn (Mrs. Kenneth Hirtle), both of New Germany. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the North River Church. Rev. C.H .Whitteker officiated. Interment at North River Cemetery. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
