Description	:	Amos Younkin an old and highly respected citizen of this community passed away Friday morning about eleven o'clock. Some six weeks ago he suffered a stroke of appoplexy and had been confined to his bed since that time. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the M.E. church, conducted by Rev Douglass and interment was in Memory cemetery. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the M.E. church, conducted by Rev Douglass and interment was in Memory cemetery. Amos Younkin was born in Perry county, Ohio, Feb 8, 1837, and died at his home in New Market March 22, 1918. He was the son of John and Margaret Younkin. He moved to Washington county, Iowa in 1867 and from there to Page county in 1880, and settled on a farm six miles southwest of New Market, where he resided till about one year and a half ago when he moved to New Market. He was married to Rachael Benson August 18, 1874. To this union four children were born, three of whom with his companion, survive him. John Leroy died in infancy. The remaining children are Mrs May Jones of New Market, Harey Younkin of Huron S.D. and Luella Bix of Clarinda, Iowa. There are eight living grandchildren. He also leaves 3 brothers and 2 sisters, 2 brother and 2 sisters in Ohio, and 1 brother in Kansas. NEW MARKET HERALD, New Market, Iowa, March 28, 1918 Amos Younkin an old and respected citizen of this community for many years passed away at his home in New Market, after one month's illness, following a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Younkin was eighty years of age at the time of his death, was a good and honorable man and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife, one son, Harve Younkin, of Huron, So. Dak., and two daughters, Mrs. James Bix and Mrs. Frank Jones, both of New Market, besides a score of relatives and friends who deeply sympathise with them in their great sorrow. Funeral services were held Saturday at two o'clock at the Methodist church in New Market, conducted by the pastor Rev. Douglas. Burial in the Memory cemetery.
