Martin, 75, a resident of 701 Birch, Atlantic, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, Jan. 25, at his home. The son of George J. and Mabel Clara Kuntz Martin, he was born at Sidney, Nov. 16, 1900, and was graduated from Sidney High School in 1918. He attended Grinnell College for a year and later moved to Villisca, where he was employed by the Coca-Cola Company. He also lived in the Shenandoah area before moving to Atlantic. After moving to Atlantic, he was employed by Challenge Feeds for several years, retiring in 1966. Since retiring, he has worked part-time for Gasoline Alley. Mr. Martin and Gladys L. Wissler were married June 13, 1957, at Adel. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, IOOF Lodge 80 and served as post noble grand. He was currently chaplain of IOOF Rebekah Lodge 87 and a past president of the Weekend Rough - N – Its Camping Club. Surviving are his widow: a daughter, Mrs. Drexel (Joyce) Reeves of Spencer; a son, Gene Martin of Seattle, Wash.; a stepson, Harvey L. Wissler of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Arch of Shenandoah and Merwin of Clarinda. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Walsa Clara Ettinger and Mary Madeline Hermes; and two brothers, George C. and Everett. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Timon Davison officiating. Interment was in the Wiota Cemetery near Wiota. Roland Funeral Service was in charge.
