Description	:	Mrs Amy Simkins, aged 79 years, wife of Nathan Simkins, died this morning at 12:30 o'clock at her home in LeGrand, after an extended illness of heart trouble, complicated with dropsy and the ailments resulting from old age. Amy Welker was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, in 1822, residing there during her girlhood days. in 1864 the family moved west settling in LeGrand, which has been the home of Mr and Mrs Simkins ever since. Amy Welker was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, in 1822, residing there during her girlhood days. in 1864 the family moved west settling in LeGrand, which has been the home of Mr and Mrs Simkins ever since. Eight children were born to them, of whom seven are living. They are Mr H E Simkins of this city, Mrs D W Richards of LeGrand, David and Daniel Simkins of St Louis, Missouri, Samuel O Simkins of LeGrand and Mrs Ella Moore of Sheffield. The other daughter, Mrs Jennie Palmer, died in Grinnell about nine years ago. Two brothers, Mssrs J B and W A Welker of LeGrand and one sister, Susan Tullie of Columbiana county, Ohio, also survive the deceased. Mrs Simkins has been a member of the Christian church of LeGrand for many years and the funeral will be conducted from that edifice Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. Rev J W Piper of LeGrand, an old friend of the deceased, will have the services in charge. Interment will be in the LeGrand cemetery. Thursday, January 24, 1901 Evening Times Republican
