He married Jane Davis Franklin their children are daughters; Sarah Jane, Elizabeth Ann Carr Mitchell, Phoebe Ellen Carr Jackson and Margaret J. Carr Barrett, sons; William Henry, Jesse Edward, James Nathan, Benoni Fortner and Daniel Brimerman Carr
