Dworak, a pioneer resident of Geneva, will be held at the Geneva cemetery at 3:30p.m. Sunday afternoon, June 20,1943. Anastasie Z. Dworak, eight-seven, the last survivor of a family of early Saline county homesteaders, died suddenly in Stockton N.J. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Cotton, February 16, 1943. She was the widow of Vincent Dworak, one time clerk at the district court in Fillmore county, who came to Geneva with his young wife and son in 1880. Vincent's father, also a homesteader, lived in Schluyler, Colfax county, for many years. In her pioneering days, Mrs. Dworak experienced the many hardships, the three day blizzards, the grasshopper invasions, the uncomfortable dug-out dwelling, the sod house, and finally a comfortable frame farm house near Crete. Supplies were brought from Nebraska City, eighty miles away, with an ox team. As a child in Baltimore, where her father lived before coming to take a claim in Nebraska, her curiosity led her one day to get into a long, slow moving line of people entering a church. When she finally reached the inside, she was told the dead man lying in state was Abraham Lincoln. Her ashes will be brought by her daughter to Geneva for burial in the family plot, where a short service will be held, Sunday, June 20, at 2:30p.m. Friends are invited to attend. Mrs. Dworak is survived by her daughter, Georgia Dvorak Cotton, wife of a prominent artist. Mrs. Cotton was born in Geneva. A son, Anton V. Dvorak, owner and editor of "The Philatelic Gossip" died at Holton Kas. in 1932. Mrs. Dworak was born in Bohemia, April 22,1857. Mr. Dworak, while residing in Geneva, erected the business building in the east block that bears his name. The family was related to the famous composer, Anton Dvorak.
