Peterson, 77, a former resident of the Marne vicinity, died at 8:40 Friday night at the Salem invalid home in Elk Horn, where he had been a patient since July 17. He had been in failing health several years. Mr. Peterson, the son of Martin M. And Johanna E. Peterson, was born at Avoca on February 7, 1875 and moved with his parents to the Marne vicinity when a young man. He was married to Alice M. Peterson, 77, a former resident of the Marne vicinity, died at 8:40 Friday night at the Salem invalid home in Elk Horn, where he had been a patient since July 17. He had been in failing health several years. Mr. Peterson, the son of Martin M. And Johanna E. Peterson, was born at Avoca on February 7, 1875 and moved with his parents to the Marne vicinity when a young man. He was married to Alice M. Larsen at Elk Horn February 23, 1898 and had lived in the Marne vicinity for 60 years. He farmed South of Marne until moving to Marne in 1919 and for the last few years had made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Wilburn of north of Atlantic. Surviving are two sons, Alfred L. Peterson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Ted Peterson of Atlantic; a daughter, Mrs. Scott Wilburn; a sister, Mrs. Martha Anderson of Atlantic and a grandson, Alfred A. Peterson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mrs. Peterson died May 4, 1931 and he was preceded in death by a son, Roland M. Peterson and a brother and sister. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Roland funeral home, the Rev. Anders Hansen of Elk Horn and the Rev. J. M. Stefenson of Marne officiating. The remains will be at the funeral home until the service hour and interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery Southwest of Elk Horn. -Atlantic News Telegraph, September 27, 1952.
