Description	:	Funeral rites for Andrew Boyens, 82, were held in the Manning Lutheran Church, Tuesday afternoon, December 21, 1943. The Rev. Johann M. Ansorge, pastor, was in charge of services. Pallbearers were Roy, Lester, and Arnold Soll, Amos Wiese, Eddie Johnson, and LaVerne Boyens. Andrew Boyens was born October 11, 1861, in Hollingstedt, Schleswig, Germany. May 12, 1885, he came to America and settled in Manning. December 1885 he married Miss Elizabeth Rohr. In 1886 they moved to Aspinwall where he followed his profession. In 1900, Mrs. and Mrs. Boyens moved to a farm in Iowa Township. They moved back to Aspinwall later where he raised chickens and later operated a cream station. Mrs. Boyens passed away in 1928. Since 1943 he made his home with his daughter, Margaret Hagedorn. The last few years he spent with his sister, Mrs. Katharina Schroeder in Charlotte. A few weeks ago he became ill and was taken to a hospital in Clinton where he died last Friday. Of ten children born to Mr. and Mrs. Boyens, one died in infancy. The others are Fred Boyens of Denison; Harry Boyens, Perry; Andrew Boyens, Charlotte; Mrs. Kathryn Farley, Perry; Mrs. Margaret Hagedorn, Aspinwall; Mrs. Dora Soll, Aspinwall; Mrs. Emma Wiese, Manilla; Mrs. Elizabeth Dammann, Audubon. There are 29 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Henry and Karl in Germany, and a brother William Boyens of Manilla; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Meier and Mrs. Katharina Schroeder in Charlotte.
