His funeral service was at 11 AM Saturday, May 1st, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Crippen officiating. Military rites was conducted by the Huron Veterans Council. He was drafted into the United States Army on June 21, 1945 and served until October 19, 1946. Andy married Lois Anderson on September 21, 1946, at Trenton, New Jersey. They lived in Huron briefly until moving to a farm seven miles west of town. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. His wife Lois, three sons, Randy, Kenneth and Jeffrey, and a brother, James F. Miedema preceded him in death. Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Cathryn Saylor (Gene Anderson) of Watertown and Dennis Miedema of Huron; five grandchildren, Becky Breyer, Joseph (Celeste) Saylor, Jacalyn (Stephen) Hudlemeyer, Jerilyn (Kristopher) Ulmer and Candice (Seth) Klipfel; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob, and Jordan Breyer, Kendra and Katarina Saylor, Jason Ulmer and Daniel Hudlemeyer; one sister, Ruth Urban of Huron; one brother, Sydney Miedema of Schertz,Texas; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Munger of Sioux Falls; and one brother-in-law, William F. Smith of Huron.
