ANTHON, Iowa -- Frank Bollin, 78, of Anthon died suddenly Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, while doing farm work near Anthon. Services were held Nov. 6 at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville, Iowa, where Pastor Bert Burwell, A.i.M. officiated. Graveside services were held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon. Arrangements were under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. Andrew Franklin Bollin was born March 21, 1928, in rural Quimby, Iowa, the son of Ray and Opal (Longwell) Bollin. The family moved to Kingsley, Iowa, where he graduated from Kingsley High School in 1948. He married Wilma Meister on Nov. 19, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, Iowa. The couple began farming in 1950 at rural Pierson, Iowa. In 1960, they purchased a farm near Anthon, and Frank farmed in the Anthon area the rest of his life. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville. Farming was his greatest passion. He was interested in all types of farm machinery, from the latest model tractors and combines, to the early days of thrashing machines and steam engines. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In the Anthon area, he had performed custom farming, plowing, baling and harvesting. He was a Pioneer Seed corn salesman for 26 years. He was also active in the community, helping with many fundraisers and community improvements as well as helping to start the Anthony Community Club. Frank and Wilma spent the past 28 winters in Mission, Texas, where they established many good friends. He loved spending time with his family and especially his great-grandchildren. His most recent happiness was giving John Deere bikes to three of his great-grandsons and welcoming his granddaughter, Randi, home from Iraq. Survivors include his wife, Wilma; sons, Wayne and his partner, Steve Johnson of Sioux City, and Brice and his wife, Kris of Anthon; grandchildren, Kelly and Terry Weaver, Randi Bollin, Quanda and Mike Hanshaw and Andrew and Ruby Bollin; great-grandchildren, Brett, Jared and James Weaver, Alex Bollin, Kaylee and Kodie Saltzman, Natashia and Elaine; three brothers, Doug (Hazel) Bollin of Kingsley, Jim (Penney) Bollin of Tucson, Ariz., and Gary (Kathy) Bollin of Colorado; two sisters, Maxine Fellom of Newport News, Va., and Kereen Schnee of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Verle (Connie) Meister of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Lee) Morey of Mission, Texas, and Betty Meister of Correctionville; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Andrew and Susie (Mapes) Bollin and Lewis and Emma (Jones) Longwell; two brothers, Wayne and Neil in infancy; a sister, Lavonn Gibbs; his parents-in-law, Otto and Ruth Meister; brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Glenn Meister, Harley Fellom and Joe Schnee; and former daughter-in-law, Linda (Babinate-Bollin) Bradham.
