Andrew was born on a farm located south of Rich Fountain, near the Gasconade River, to Louis and Barbara Ruder Haller. Andrew was not accepted for military service. He was married to Marie Gradel on Nov 15, 1921. They began farming on the Gasconade River farm east of Freeburg owned by John Bauer. In 1940, they acquired and moved to the farm north of Freeburg, presently owned by Patrick and Mary Luetkemeyer Haller. Andrew talked about cutting sycamore timbers in the Gasconade River bottom and hauling them to Freeburg where they were used for scaffolding supports when the present church was built. (Submitted by Raymond Shaefer) Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1974: " Andrew CO. Haller, 80, Freeburg, died Sunday ( July 14, 1974) at Charles E. Still Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was born Jan.. 10. 1894, at Rich Fountain, the son of Louis and Barbara Ruder Haller. He was married Nov. 15, 1921 at Freeburg, to Marie Gradel, who survives at the home. Other survivors include: seven sons, Herbert of Vienna; Richard of St. Louis; Ambrose of Jefferson City; Tony of Artesia, N. M. ; Patrick and Donnie, both of Freeburg; a daughter, Miss Dorothy Haller, Jefferson City. Two brothers, John Haller, Harlan, Iowa; and Vincent Haller of Freeburg; seven sisters, Mrs. Louis Brendel, Mrs. Mary Gradel, Mrs. Anton Gradel and Mrs. Barbara Vermoilen, all of Freeburg; Mrs. Catherine Boehmer, Linn; Miss Ann Haller and Mrs. William Schumacher, both of St. Louis; and 20 grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday at the Holy Family Catholic church in Freeburg with the Rev. Norman Ahrens officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery."
