Allen, a lifelong resident of Wapello County and within 12 days of being 90 years old, died at his home, 538 Ray St. at 3:30 PM Saturday. He was the son of John and Teresa Allen born near Bladensburg and lived in Ottumwa for the past 40 years he was married to Ellen Glenn, October 12, 1879 at Bladensburg. She died July 31, 1940. Allen, a lifelong resident of Wapello County and within 12 days of being 90 years old, died at his home, 538 Ray St. at 3:30 PM Saturday. He was the son of John and Teresa Allen born near Bladensburg and lived in Ottumwa for the past 40 years he was married to Ellen Glenn, October 12, 1879 at Bladensburg. She died July 31, 1940. He was a member of the Davis St. Christian Church. He was preceded in death by five sisters, and was the last member of his immediate family. A daughter, Goldie also preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons John of Blakesburg route 2 and Charles of Ottumwa, two grandchildren and two great grandsons. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 PM at the Johnson funeral Chapel, in charge of the Rev. Bruce B. Matthews of The Davis St., Christian Church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery pallbearers will be Eli and Milt Murray, John Wagner, Ed Ware, Jim and Oren Schwartz.
