Andrew "Boots" Jackson Wilson, USMC, Retired, age 84, died peacefully Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Andrea, surrounded by family and friends. He will always be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather. His quick wit and smile made him a friend to everyone. M.Sgt. Wilson was born in Vance Co. He was the last surviving child of 14 of the late Obadiah O. and Elizabeth Robertson Wilson. M. Sgt. Wilson retired from the United States Marine Corps after 30 years service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Kunkel Wilson. M.Sgt. Wilson is survived by two daughters, Andrea W. Piland and husband, Jim, of Durham, and Annette Wilson, DVM and husband, Mark Armitage, of Graham; a son, Andrew J. Wilson, Jr. and wife, Julie, of Holly Springs; a granddaughter, Cameron Wilson; two grandsons, Ryan Piland and Jackson Wilson; and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Rock Spring Baptist Church, in Townsville, with the Rev. Gary Brummitt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at Clements Funeral Home, in Durham, and other times at the home of his daughter, Andrea, 904 Royal Oaks Dr., in Durham. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to Triangle Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr., # 101, Durham, N.C. 27704, or Rock Spring Baptist Church, c/o Carol Capps, P.O. Box 296, Townsville, N.C. 27584.
