Brown Dies At Home Near Wan Andrew Jackson Brown, an old and highly respected citizen of Gloucester, died at his home near Wan after a severe illness of only a few weeks last Friday afternoon, Dec. 5, aged 78 years, 8 months and 29 days. He leaves his wife, two sons, Allen, of Richmond, and Andrew, of Gloucester, and two daughters, Mrs. Lum Bridges and Mrs. Ida Brown Hall, of Gloucester. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. John Hatch, of Dutton, 16 grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. He was the son of Smith W. and Susan Elizabeth Brown and married Miss Keturah Hatch of Mathews County, who survives him. He united early in life with Ebenezer church and was a consistant, faithful member. Funeral services were held Sunday at Ebenezer Church, Rev. H. L. Corr and Rev. R. A. Folkes officiating. Favorite hymns of the deceased, "Abide With Me," "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Asleep in Jesus" were sung. The pall was borne by William Hatch, Enoch Hatch, Clarence Brown, Robert Brown, Bernard Bridges and Albert Clements. Honorary pall bearers were Walter Hall, Thomas Bridges, Will Bridges, Franklin German, Faulkner Hatch, Enoch Hatch, Roland Collier, William Moore, J. B. WIlliams, Sam Kemp, Floyd Bailey, George Lamberth, Woodland Brown, Carrol Foster, Tom Clements, Alvin Bridges, Charlie Coffield and Reuben Dutton.
