Guy was born in North Carolina June 28, 1826, and died October 28, 1909, at Hastings, Nebraska, aged 83 years and four months. He came to Indiana with is parents at the age of six years and there grew to man-hood. He married Miss Martha Ann Cunningham and soon thereafter moved to Warren county (sic), Iowa, settling near Hartford, becoming of the pioneer settlers of this part of the state. He bought a homestead near Sandyville and there spent the major portion of his life. To this union were born ten children, six boys and four girls. Three of the girls died in childhood and the other, Mrs. Elizabeth Guy Goble died 9 years ago. The wife and mother passed to the spirit land 31 years ago. Two sons died in childhood. The other four are now prominent citizens of the vicinity of Guide Rock, Nebraska, and are Wm., Charles, Andrew and John. The former and two latter accompanied the remains to Hartford, Iowa, and laid them to rest in the family lot beside his loved ones who have preceeded (sic) him. In early life he united with the Christian church. During the Civil war he served in an Iowa regiment, and at its close was honorably discharged, and rejoined his family. He was a kindly father, an affectionate husband, a highly respected neighbor, one who was always ready with a helping hand to those in need. ~ The above was copied from an Iowa paper.
