He was a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Palmer and was born in Schuyler county, Mo., September 14, 1853. He had lived in Ottumwa for the last twenty-one years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Emma Dilts and Mrs. Max Stevens, both of White Bear, Minn.; three sons, J. R. of White Bear, John of Chillicothe and Charles of Ottumwa; two brothers, Jasper of Aberdeen, S.D., and J. C. of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and one son.
