Description	:	Jackson was the son of David Cox Phipps and Dorcas (Stamper) Phipps. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Vanover on June 9, 1860. He was a farmer and they lived on Davey Branch of the Pound River, Dickenson County, Virginia. Jackson and Betty raised seven children.
