Description	:	"Andrew Rosenbaum was born in 1813 in Washington County, Virginia. Susan Emeline Welch Rosenbaum was born in Hendricks County, Indianan. In 1864 they moved their family to Monroe, WI, to what is ow known as Civil Bend Township. They had four children: Dan, Delitha, Allen and Charles when they moved in Dakota Territory Andrew and his family made their home o a 160-acre homestead in the middle of Section 20 in Civil Bend Township. Susan Emeline Welch Rosenbaum was born in Hendricks County, Indianan. In 1864 they moved their family to Monroe, WI, to what is ow known as Civil Bend Township. They had four children: Dan, Delitha, Allen and Charles when they moved in Dakota Territory Andrew and his family made their home o a 160-acre homestead in the middle of Section 20 in Civil Bend Township. They lived in a sod house with a rail fence around the building site. The older boys remembered sitting on the fence watching the Indians who occasionally traveled by. The river community of Texas was less than a mile from their home and Robert remembered as a small child walking to Texas with his mother for groceries. Andrew cleared timber from the land and planted wheat. He threshed the wheat and took it to the mill at River Sioux to be ground into flour for household use. The timber which he cleared from the land was placed in a put and set afire. After the wood had burned for a while it was dovered with dirt until the fire was extinguished. The partially burned wood was then removed from the put and taken to Sioux city where it was sold to blacksmiths tobe used in their forges. Andrew is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Section 24, Civil Bend Township. Susan Emeline is buried in the Elk Point Cemetery. Dan Rosenbaum went on to be a railroad man at Hawarden, IA. Meridith moved to the Westfield, IA area and farmed. Allen stayed in Civil Ben Township. Robert moved to Ponca, NE area around the turn of the century and lived there for several years, then returned to Civil Bend. Charles and his wife, Adel Laviaai Rosenbaum, and heir children, Louis, Charles, Jr, Edith Gilkison, Ruby Heuer, Robert, Andrew, Elmner, Howard, Pearl Severson Emma Buechler, Elvira Nason, Clarence, Raymond and Evelyn Coates lived in Section 20. They had two other son, Dewey and George, who died at a young age. Robert and Cora Green Rosenbaum and children: C. Adolphus, Albert, Earl and Irene Livingston, lived in Section 17, Civil Bend Township. Cora Green was the granddaughter of Robert R. Green, who built and conducted the first store in Elk Point."
