Description	:	JOHNSTON, Andrew V. 90, passed away at the Knolls of Oxford on September 8, 2015. Born and raised in West Virginia, he was the third of twelve children of William and Eva Johnston. Andrew dropped out of high school to join the Army during WW2, serving in the South Pacific. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Concord College and a Master's Degree from Ohio University before returning to the South Pacific in 1952 to teach at Guam Memorial High School. He met the love of his life on the plane, marrying Elizabeth Booth that December. The couple has been... Read More	JOHNSTON, Andrew V. 90, passed away at the Knolls of Oxford on September 8, 2015. Born and raised in West Virginia, he was the third of twelve children of William and Eva Johnston. Andrew dropped out of high school to join the Army during WW2, serving in the South Pacific. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Concord College and a Master's Degree from Ohio University before returning to the South Pacific in 1952 to teach at Guam Memorial High School. He met the love of his life on the plane, marrying Elizabeth Booth that December. The couple has been married more than 62 years. The Johnston family returned stateside in 1955, where Andrew attained his Ph.D. at the University of Oregon. He later taught at the University of Nevada and at Miami University. Andrew Johnston will be remembered as a wonderful son and brother, a loving husband and father, and a kind and just man. He is survived by his widow Elizabeth, sons Denis and Mark Johnston, daughter Paula (Johnston) Armstrong, four grandchildren, eight great -grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters. Mr. Johnston donated his body to the UC medical school, so funeral services will be held at the church of his childhood in Princeton, WV. -------------- Mr. Johnston donated his body to the UC Medical School. Later, his children placed his military grave marker in the family cemetery.
