Carmel, in Franklin county, November 9, 1873, and departed this life June 14, 1941, aged 67 years 7 months and 5 days. He was the youngest of seven children and the only son of John B. and Mary Ann (Reed) Young. His family moved from Mt. Carmel, in Franklin county, November 9, 1873, and departed this life June 14, 1941, aged 67 years 7 months and 5 days. He was the youngest of seven children and the only son of John B. and Mary Ann (Reed) Young. His family moved from Mt. Carmel to Brookville along about 1885, and from then until his death, with the exception of a brief period of six months spent at Batesville, he lived in the town of Brookville. On December 23, 1896, he was united in marriage to Maggie Lloyd, of Newpoint, Indiana. To this union there were born four children, Iva Young of Cincinnati, Ceola McEntee, Kenneth Young and Orville Young, all of Brookville. His father and mother and six sisters, Margaret Boerstler, Josie Jones, Kate Rutherford, Elizabeth Manlief, Anna Iuppenlatz and Caroline Underwood, all have preceded him in death. He was a member of the Christian Church of Brookville, having been taken into the church on February 20, 1927. He was an employee of the Brookville Furniture factory for about 40 years and for the last 12 years he was employed by Lee Duell in the poultry business in Brookville. He leaves to mourn his widow, Maggie Young, his two daughters, his two sons and six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of friends and neighbors. Having been in failing health for the past year, he neverless kept on with his work and suffered in silence, but on Tuesday June 10, 1941 he took to his bed and despite all efforts of friends and loved ones and the medical profession, he was called home to his friendly neighbor. To all who knew him he will be remembered as one who always wore a smile and whose first and last thought was for the good of others. [Buried Maple Grove Cemetery]
