Description	:	A. Julia Green, age 92, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids. Angelena Julia DiLello was born July 29, 1923, in New Haven, Connecticut. She was the youngest of eleven children born to Domenico and Angela Marie (Mondrone) Di Lello. Julia Green, age 92, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids. Angelena Julia DiLello was born July 29, 1923, in New Haven, Connecticut. She was the youngest of eleven children born to Domenico and Angela Marie (Mondrone) Di Lello. She graduated from New Haven Commercial High School in 1942. After graduation and during WWII she worked as a secretary/clerk for the Army Air Corps. In 1945 she then worked for the Harry G. Thompson & Son Company. As Julia loved music, especially dancing, she worked weekends at the YWCA. Many dances were held in conjunction with the YMCA and the general public. In 1946, at one of these dances she met Gene S. Green, a Navy enlisted man from Kansas and stationed after WWII at New London, Connecticut. They were married at St. Patricks Catholic Church in New Haven on May 25, 1946. After marriage and moving to Kansas, she worked for a year at Certain-Teed Products Corporation, now known as the Georgia-Pacific Gypsum Plant in Blue Rapids. As her husband farmed, she became a farmers wife and mother. She returned to work outside the home in the late sixties. She worked at the Marshall County Extension Office before becoming a CMA in local nursing homes. Julias last position was her very favorite overall. She worked at the Frankfort High School and the Marysville Jr-Sr High School for many years as an office para, retiring in 1999 due to illness. Julia was the last continuing member of the Star League Club in Waterville. She also belonged to the Marshall County Historical Society and helped some at the Court House, RSVP, Prairie Ridge Sunshine Club and Happy Home EHU. She was currently a member of St. Monica St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids, the Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed music, reading and attending auctions. Survivors include her daughter Barbara (Roger) Terry, Waterville, a son Robert (Renee) Green, Waterville, two grandsons; Jamie Terry and Jeff Terry, both of Manhattan, three granddaughters; Freedom Green of Manhattan, Heather Grund of Hanover, Holly (Ryan) Olberding of Wamego, and two great grandchildren; Kyra & Brady, one brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Gilbert and Marge Green of Abilene, and one sister-in-law, Carol Green Stryker of Randolph. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene on Aug. 6, 1995, her siblings, Rose, Sadie, Margaret, John, Dominick, Beatrice, Candice, Ann, and two infant brothers. A viewing will be held Tuesday, from noon until 7:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at St. Monica St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids with Father Daniel Schmitz as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Waterville. Memorials are suggested to either St. Monica St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or to the Waterville Opera House Restoration Project. Memorials may be sent in care of the funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
