Obituary: Angeline McVay Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McVay, was born at Sandsprings, Delaware County, Iowa, Nov. 19, 1849, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. W. Semple, 443 North Market Street, Oskaloosa, at 3:30 o'clock, Sunday morning, April 14, 1935, aged 85 years, 5 months and 5 days, after an extended illness. She was united in marriage to James H. Clark, June 30, 1870, at Corydon, Iowa, where they made their home for over 50 years. To this union were born four children: Merritt W. Clark, who died in 1919; Mrs. Hollie Semple, Oskaloosa, Ia; Mrs. Bertha Morris, Kankakee, Ill., and Fred L. Clark, Corydon, Iowa. Mrs. Clark has made her home with the daughter, Mrs. H. W. Semple, since the death of her husband in 1920. She had been a lifelong member of the Christian church. Funeral services were held at the Corydon Christian Church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, April 15, 1935, in charge was Rev. M. H. Williams, pastor of the Oskaloosa Christian Church, with burial in Corydon Cemetery. Obituary: April 18, 1935, The Times, Corydon, Iowa- Mrs. J. H. Clark, 85, mother of our well known merchant, Fred L. Clark, passed away in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Semple at Oskaloosa, Iowa, Sunday morning, April 14. She was a pioneer resident of Corydon having spent the greater part of her life here, where she was well known and highly respected. Since the death of her husband, she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Semple, where she was tenderly cared for in her declining years. The remains accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Semple and daughter, Maxine, and a number of friends was brought to Corydon Monday and services conducted by the Rev. M. H. Williams, pastor of the Oskaloosa Christian church were held in the local Christian church Monday afternoon. Mrs. O. L. Morris of Kankakee, Ill., youngest daughter of Mrs. Clark and several relatives from Derby were here to attend the services together with many old neighbors and friends. Music was furnished by a quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Cobel, Mrs. A. R. Tillitson and Wilbur Rider, with Mrs. B. S. Walker at the piano. The pallbearers were: F. H. Lilliard, R. L. Stoffer, D. L. Murrow, R. O. Richard, E. E. Poston and C. L. Clark. Burial was in the Corydon cemetery.
