Read More	Native Resident Angie Tyler, Dies Angie Sibley Tyler, 95, one of the first born girls of the Porterville area, died at the home of her daughter Emma Tyler Baxley in Stockton. She was born on what is now the Hilton place east of Porterville Sept. 12, 1868. Her parents the late Stephen B. and Emma R. Sibley arrived in San Francisco from Haverhill, Mass., in 1867, having come around the horn. The following year they joined George Sibley at his homestead east of Porterville and it was there that Angie Mae was born. Her only brother, William Strout Sibley, was born there 22 months later. Shortly thereafter Stephen Sibley acquired land at the foot of Rocky Hill, raising cows, chickens and turkeys. This project was to be short-lived for before Angie was seven, her father was bitten by a rabid dog and lived only a few days. Subsequent to the sale of her ranch and buying a new home for herself and her two children, Mrs. Sibley married James Lewis. Together they built up what later became known as the Beattie ranch north of Porterville at the foot of Lewis Hill. It was from there that Angie and Will Sibley trudged to the little schoolhouse on Mill street in Porterville. They lived as other pioneers did, deriving much of their social life from the activities of the church and communities. Both Angie and her mother were members of the choir at the Congregational church. There they took an active part in the entertainments, dinners and socials by which money was raised for the building fund and to pay the minister. On Nov. 20, 1891 two pioneer families were united when Angie Sibley and Clyde D. Tyler were married. They spent the entire 34 years of their married life in and around Porterville. Mr. Tyler died in 1925. They became the parents of eight children, one of whom died in infancy. All others survive except Verne Sibley Tyler who died in 1947. Mrs. Tyler is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Baxley and Mrs. Myldred Multemeier of San Francisco; four sons, John D. Tyler of Whittner, Stephen Clyde Tyler of Hermosa Beach, James Lewis Tyler of Temple City and Eugene R. Tyler of Walnut Creek; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Myers chapel. Burial will be in the Porterville cemetery.
