Description	:	Anita Miller was born to Edgar and Evelyn Miller on February 7, 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD. The family farmed south east of Freeman, SD. She was baptized at Salem Mennonite Church and was a life-long member. Anita attended the local one room schoolhouse, Freeman Academy and Bethel College where she participated in many music events including trips to Russia and Europe for choir tour. After college, she went to work with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Akron, PA for four years where she met Ray Neufeld. The two were married August 28, 1976 and lived their first two years... Read More	Anita Miller was born to Edgar and Evelyn Miller on February 7, 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD. The family farmed south east of Freeman, SD. She was baptized at Salem Mennonite Church and was a life-long member. Anita attended the local one room schoolhouse, Freeman Academy and Bethel College where she participated in many music events including trips to Russia and Europe for choir tour. After college, she went to work with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Akron, PA for four years where she met Ray Neufeld. The two were married August 28, 1976 and lived their first two years of marriage in Drake, Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1978 they moved to Anita’s family farm southeast of Freeman to take over the operations when Anita’s folks moved into town. They raised two children – Renee and Alison while raising crops and a large garden. Anita stayed home while the girls were young and enjoyed making their clothing, quilting and playing organ for church. She relished the time spent with other young families during Bible Studies and the NERDS group. When the girls got older, Anita worked as the church secretary and then as the bookkeeper for Freeman Academy for 20 years. She loved her time connecting with the students, faculty and staff at the school. She went to as many sporting events and music concerts as she could. She worked with many organizations including Mennonite Mutual Aid, MCC Sale and Swan Lake Christian Camp. It brought her much joy to lend her alto voice to church choirs, Swiss Choral and other music groups. She loved singing with and listening to her daughters sing. Anita was a loving mother and faithful wife. She was easy to talk with, kind and had a great laugh. She always aimed to take care of others. After a long struggle with dementia, she went to be with her Savior on January 3, 2021. Anita is preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Evelyn Miller and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by husband Ray, and daughters Renee (Anchorage AK) and Alison (Wilkes-Barre, PA). We love and miss her.
