They made their... Read More	Anita (Krohnke) Hecht (1898 - 1983) Anita Krohnke Hecht was born on September 15, 1898, near Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Adam and Annie Ernst Krohnke . She died on Wednesday morning, September 14, 1983, at the Denison Care Center in Denison at the age of 84. Anita moved with her family to Lyon County, Iowa at the age of 10. The family made their home on a farm near Larchwood. Anita attended the rural schools near her home. On March 2, 1919, Anita was united in marriage to Edward Hecht in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They made their first home in Lyon County. In 1931, they moved to Crawford County where they began farming near Schleswig. After their retirement in 1958, they moved into the Schleswig community. Anita took an active part in farming with her husband. She was also a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, two brothers Arthur and Claudius and one sister Wanita Horn. Survivors include two daughters, Florence, Mrs. Arnold Jepsen of Schleswig, and Lois, Mrs. Charles Kruse of Denison. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Julia Knutson of Schleswig as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 16, 1983, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery near Schleswig. The Rev. Fred Moore officiated at the services. Mrs. Evelyn Johnson served as organist with Mrs. Rubie Kastner as soloist. Hymns included "Abide With Me" and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Dean Kruse, Bernard Lupton, Christian Johnson, John Bahnsen, Francis Krohnke and Leon Gosch.
