Kelly of Smithsburg, passed away Sunday June 28 2009, at Fahrney Keedy Home And Village where she had been a resident since October 1997. Ann Was born in Washington County, Maryland a daughter of the late David E. and Nina Huff Bachtell and was raised on the family farm near Smithsburg. She attended local schools, graduating with honors in 1953. While helping on the family farm she worked at Landis Tool Company in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She later worked for First Federal Savings and Loan in Hagerstown, Maryland. She married John C. Kelly of Frederick, Maryland in October 1959, and while living in Myersville, Maryland was employed by Farmers And Mechanics National Bank in Frederick. In 1966, she, her husband and her daughter moved back to the Smithsburg area. She was an avid flower gardener, spending all of her leisure time growing and arranging flowers. She also enjoyed traveling, homemaking and playing cards with her friends. She is survived by her husband, John C. Kelly, daughter, Lisa Ann Kelly, and two grandchildren, Philip and Kelly Ann. She is also survived by a brother, Ronald E. Bachtell and wife, Carol, and one sister, Susan B. Good and husband, Walter. She is also survived by several, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts. Ann was a lifelong member of St. Peters (Beards) Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, Washington County, Maryland with internment made in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Lewistown, Frederick County, Maryland.
