Description	:	Ann Elizabeth Ruf, 90, of Sterling, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, in Sterling. Visitation is Friday, July 9, from 10 am. to 7 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services are Saturday, July 10 at 10 a.m. at Thrinty Lutheran Church, with Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery Mrs. Ruf was born Sept. 5,1913, in Messex, to Fredrich Stertz and Katherine Elizabeth (Kraft) Stertz. She moved to Sterling as an infant. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery Mrs. Ruf was born Sept. 5,1913, in Messex, to Fredrich Stertz and Katherine Elizabeth (Kraft) Stertz. She moved to Sterling as an infant. Shewas baptized Nov. 9,1913, at Peace Lutheran Church. On March 24, 1929, she was confirmed, also at Peace Lutheran. She attended Sterling schools and lived during her youth on the Hadfield farm, south of Sterling. On April 2l, 1934, she married Ted Ruf in Sidney, Neb. They moved to a farm three miles north of Sterling, until their retirement. Mrs. Ruf was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Ruth Guild, the evangelism committee, and the Bible study class. She was also a member of the Pep and Progress Extension Club and the Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed her family and friends, and traveling. Along with being a homemaker, she enjoyed her flower gardens and her vegetable garden each spring. She is survived by son Gerald Ruf and wife Norma, of Sterling; daughters Joann Hansen and husband Charles, of Littleton, and Joyce Kellogg and husband Stan, of Franktown; brother Victor Stertz, of Greeley sister Dolly Luft, of Sterling; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Fredrich and Katherine Stertz; husband Ted Ruf brothers Sam, Jake, Dave and John Stertz; and sister Mollie. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
