Description	:	Mrs. R. D. Walter, for twenty years a resident of Hawarden, died very suddenly from heart failure Saturday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Libbie Bihlmeyer, near Elk Point. She had been in her usual health up to the hour of her death and her passing came as a severe shock to the members of her family and numerous friends. The remains were brought to Hawarden Wednesday morning and brief funeral services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. A. M. Mcintosh, after which interment was made in the cemetery at this place beside the grave... Read More	Mrs. R. D. Walter, for twenty years a resident of Hawarden, died very suddenly from heart failure Saturday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Libbie Bihlmeyer, near Elk Point. She had been in her usual health up to the hour of her death and her passing came as a severe shock to the members of her family and numerous friends. The remains were brought to Hawarden Wednesday morning and brief funeral services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. A. M. Mcintosh, after which interment was made in the cemetery at this place beside the grave of her husband. Ann Jane Conn was born in Collingwood, Ontario, Jan. 10, 1854, so at the time of her death had attained the age of 63 years, 2 months and 7 days. She was united in marriage to R. D. Walter in September, 1870. Mr. Walter preceded her in death about twelve years ago. The family came to Calliope in the late 80's and made their home here for many years. After the death of her husband Mrs. Walter continued to reside here for a few years but moved to Sioux City in 1900. She was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive, one of her sons, Fred, having passed away about three years ago. The children who survive are G. H. Walter, E. R. Walter, C. H. Walter and Mrs. Minnie Chatterton of Sioux City, Mrs. Maggie Justman of Chicago, and Mrs, Libbie Bihlmeyer of Elk Point. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren. All her children were present at the funeral. Mrs. Walter was a splendid type of womanhood. She was strictly a home loving woman and the beautiful side of her nature was best shown in the joy she took with her family. Her departure from this life is deeply regretted by her many old friends here and all join in expressing deepest sympathy for the bereft children. Hawarden Independent 3/22/1917
