Survived by husband, Kenneth; daughter, Kerry Laub (Joseph) Thackery of Westerville and their daughter, Kelsey Ann Thackery and son, Matthew Wilder Thackery; also daughter, Rita (William) Vollmer of Mellette, S.D., and their children, sons, Kevin and Kraig of Mellette, and daughter, Jennifer of Whitehall, S.D.; also son, Richard (Marlene) Mitchell of Isanti, Minn.; brother, Lynn Brunn of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Willa Becker of Orange, Calif., and Nancy (Clyde) Wells of Columbia, S.D.; nieces and nephews and many caring friends. Beloved wife and mother, doting grandmother, with a genuine fondness for people. Taught ceramics for 38 years to hundreds of students, many of whom became good friends. Former Girl Scout leader, escorted her troop to Washington, D.C. Always a volunteer in PTA, school classrooms, local Block Parent and Block Watch. Enthusiastic member of the local Red Hats society, in which she has made many good friends. Enjoyed traveling with her husband around the U.S., to Europe and China, and on cruise ships to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Panama, and Alaska. Also driving trips with Kerry and Joe and grandchildren to South Dakota, Florida, Virginia and other vacation spots. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, Feb. 9, at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, where service will be Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m., Rev. Dan Evans officiating. Interment at Blendon Central Cemetery on Hempstead Road. Donations may be made to The Mount Carmel Hospice, 1144 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43215. Published in the Aberdeen News on 2/8/2007.
