Read More	New Hampton Gazette of 24 Mar 1910 (excerpts) Died -- At the home of her son, John Welch, in Jacksonville Township, March 5, 1910, Mrs Ann Welch, at the age of eighty-eight. Miss Ann McCusker was born in County Derry, Ireland, August 15, 1821. She came to America when she was a young girl and made her home in Palmyra, N.Y. and was married October 7, 1855, to Thomas Welch, who died in 1894. Two years after their marriage they came west seeking a home and settled on a farm in Jacksonville Township, where she lived until her death. She was one of the early settlers of this township and endured all the hardships of the early pioneer days. Seven children, six of whom survive her, came to bless the home of Mr and Mrs Welch. They are Michael Welch of Cottage Grove, Minn; James of St Paul, Minn; John of Jacksonville Township; Mrs John Solberg of Dougherty, Iowa; Mrs P.J. Commerford of Jerico; Mrs Thomas Barrett of South Milwaukee, Wis; and Thomas Welch, who died in 1882. The children were all at home for the funeral. Mrs Welch directed her children in the path of virtue and truth and lived to see them grown to be honorable men and women. The funeral was held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Reilly Ridge March 8 at 11:00 am, services being conducted by the pastor, Rev Father Sampson, and the body was laid to rest by the side of husband and son in the parish cemetery, where she now sleeps far from the scenes of her birth and childhood. Mrs Welch was a good woman and her children will now sadly miss the presence of their dearest earthly friend. In their sorrow they have the sympathy of many friends.
