DNA results show that a 4th-great-grandson of Ann Hurst Floyd's grandson Cornelius "Neal" Floyd is a match to Gale Dyess Dolbee, 5th-great-granddaughter of Ann Hurst Floyd's sister Sarah Hurst Downlearn/Dulin (7th cousins once removed: (Family tree of Gale Dolbee on Ancestry.com). There are more than 100 other matches of Ann Hurst Floyd's descendants and Hurst siblings at Ancestry.com. John Floyd and Ann Hurst of Lunenburg County, Virginia, had "sons named Charles, John, William, and Robert," and daughter Winifred (married Thomas Johnston). The Johnstons "moved from SC to GA. There is a deed of negroes from Ann Floyd, widow, of SC to Winifred Johnston, wife of Thomas Johnston, in book "Some GA County Records, Vol 1". Deed dated Nov. 18, 1795. Then Ann Floyd, da. of John Hurst of VA, dec'd gave land to son William living in Tennessee in 1806/7. She was resident of Newberry, SC. Ann Floyd inherited I understand a large amount of property, etc from her father."(Wrote Diane Renwick, 28 June 2003.) Some family trees state that she died in Newberry in 1795 while others show her death as occurring 1781 in Union County, S.C. If she lived in Newberry, she no doubt lived with her son John Floyd. The will does not name daughter Ann "Nancy" Hurst Floyd, but pages 1, 3, 9, 11, 25, 43, and 54 in the estate file clearly state that Ann "Nancy" Hurst Floyd was a daughter and heir of John Hurst of Fairfax County, Virginia. === "Ann Hurst, daughter of John Hurst (will 1787) and Elizabeth Summers, was not mentioned in her father's will; however, the inventory and disbursement of John Hurst's estate stated - 'To Ann Floyd in part of her legacy paid January 1790 as a p rect; To do and Wm Floyd her Attorney in fact, as p. rect and Power.' "There is some indication that her mother, Elizabeth Summers, died soon after her birth, and she may have been reared in the Summers family." (Darrin Lythgoe.) Source of such indication is unknown, and other family researchers show her mother as dying when Ann was about 40 years old.
