Read More	Harlan Iowa Tribune Jul 23, 1954 Life Story of Mrs Ann Schechinger, 68 Mrs Ann Schechinger, 68, of Panama, died Thursday morning, Jul 8, at Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs following a lingering illness. The daughter of John & Theresa Schafer, she was born Apr 9, 1886 in Westphalia township. On January 4, 1935, she was united in marriage to Martin Schechinger in St Mary's church, Panama IA. They then moved to Harlan where they made their home. Mr Schechinger died Jun 7, 1941 In 1943 she moved back to Panama where she has since resided. She was a veteran employee of the Farmers and Merchants Mutual Telephone Co, beginning work in 1910 and taking over the duties of night operator in 1918, which position she filled for twenty-eight years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Mike Mickels, three sisters, Mrs Kate Gau of Omah, Lizzie and Mary Schafer of Panama and one brother, Joe Schafer of Panama. A brother Nick preceded her in death two years ago. Funeral services were held in St Mary's church at Panama at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, July 10, with the Rt Rev Msgr. M B Schiltz officiating at the Requiem High Mass. The Rosary Society of which she was a member, attended the funeral in a body. Pallbearers were Frank Oppold, William Mischo, John Oppold, Leo Koch, Robert Sullivan, and Delbert Kohles. Burial was made in St Boniface cemtery, Westphalia. Rev H E Duren of Westphalia assisted by Rev A J Palmer of Panama officiated at the graveside rites. ------------------------------------------ Daily Nonpareil, Council Bluffs, Iowa July 10, 1954 Mrs Ann Schechinger Panama - Services are planned at 9 am Saturday at St Mary's Catholic Church here for Mrs Ann Schechinger, 68. A long time night operator for the Panama telephone company, she died Tuesday in a Council Bluffs hospital after a long Illness. Msgr A B Schiltz will officiate at Requiem High Mass and burial will be in St Boniface Cemetery at Westphalia with Pauley's Home for Funerals of Harlan in charge. Born in Westphalia she spent most of her life there and in Panama. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs Irmine Mickels of Panama; one brother and three sisters.
