Her death took place in Mercy Hospital of Council Bluffs on Friday, the cause of death being typhoid fever. The remains were brought to Carroll and the funeral was held Sunday in St. Joseph's church, followed by interment in St. Joseph's cemetery. Anna Agnes Kelly was born at Harmon, Illinois, July 4, 1876, and came with her parents in early childhood to Carroll, where most of her life has been spent and where for twenty years she has been a teacher in the public schools of the city. Her work in this capacity has been highly regarded by school officers and patrons, and many of the younger generation of Carroll recall with feelings of affection for their teacher, the time spent as pupils in the room over which she presided. About the middle of the school year now closing, she resigned her position with a view to taking up other work, in preparation for which she entered a hospital at Omaha, to take training as a nurse. Finding the work one for which she did not feel fully adapted, she decided to return to school work and was again elected as a teacher in the Carroll schools for the coming year. She was on her way back to Carroll when she was taken sick in Council Bluffs, where she stopped to visit friends. She was taken to the hospital, where death occurred on Friday a little before six o'clock, a brother and sister being with her at the time of death. She has been a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and a faithful and devoted Christian. The surviving relatives are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Kelly, whose home is on South Maple street; three brothers: Thomas, James, and Miles, and one sister, Mary. Thomas lives in Council Bluffs, the others of the family making their homes in Carroll. The funeral on Sunday was attended by the members of the board of education, the city superintendent, and teachers, and the fourth grade pupils in a body, besides many friends and neighbors. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
