Death was due to paralysis and other complications. Annie Parson was born at Fairfield, Iowa, October 9, 1854, where she grew to young womanhood and at the age of seventeen she went to Marshall County and while living there she made the acquaintance of Ira Sargent and was married to him February 3, 1873. After their marriage they continued to live in Marshall County for something over a year when they went to Strawberry Point, Clayton County, Iowa, where Mr. Sargent was raised. There were eleven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Sargent, eight boys and three girls. Seven of these children are living; Mrs. Wm. Barker of Minneapolis; Ernest of Kimball, South Dakota; W. R. Jeffers of Union; Irvan of Nashville, Tennessee; Lawrence of Estherville; Clarence in the U.S. Navy at Norfolk, Virginia; Mrs. W. M. Purinton of Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Sargent moved to Spencer in 1898 and have been residents since that time until her death which occurred Tuesday evening, May 20, 1919. Mrs. Sargent was in poor health for a long time before her death. She suffered from two or three strokes of paralysis. She was a hard-working woman, one who was honored and respected by all who knew her for her goodness of heart and dear neighborly qualities. She was more than that; she was a Christian woman and a member of the M.E. Church of Spencer, also of the Royal Neighbors and the Modern Brotherhood. The funeral will held from the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. Taylor.
