Mrs. Joseph Mulvehill, long a resident of Prairie township and Masonville, passed away at her home on the afternoon of November 19, 1935, following a long and wearisome illness. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church in Masonville on Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Father John Murtagh, nephew of Mrs. Mulvehill, of Eldora, celebrated requiem mass with Father Lonergan of Jesup as deacon, and Father Byrne of Winthrop as sub-deacon. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery near Masonville. Anna Murtagh was born in County Longford, Ireland, April 15, 1871, and at the age of 16 years she came with her uncle, Father T. J. Murtagh, to Fairbank, Iowa. Her marriage with Mr. Mulvehill occurred on Sept. 6, 1899, and following their marriage they established their home on the Mulvehilll farm in Prairie township, south of Masonville. Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Mulvehill retired from active farm life and took up their residence in Masonville. Mrs. Mulvehill leaves the husband, one son, Thomas Mulvehill, who lives on the home farm in Prairie township; two brothers and two sisters, who reside in Ireland; and by two grandchildren. Three children born to Mr. and Mrs. Mulvehill preceded her in death--Lucille, passed away in May, 1923 at the age of sixteen years; Harold at six years of age, and another daughter in infancy. She also leaves a niece Anna Murtagh of Cincinnati, Ohio. She had long been a devout member of the Catholic church, and of the Altar society. Mrs. Mulvehill was a faithful and devoted wife and mother, she was genuinely beloved by a large circle of friends in the community so long her home. Her passing brings a great sorrow to the husband and son, who have the profound sympathy of many friends at this time. Manchester Democrat-Radio, Manchester, Iowa --November 26, 1935
