It appears that she later wrote over the August part of the writing and the date is very very faint. Underneath what Annie wrote is an entry by Jane Fuller Whitaker who is Annie’s mother. This is extremely faint but can be made out with careful examination. ) Anna Whitaker was a really fun person to research. She was bold enough to write in the front of the family bible and get married at fifteen to John Sipult (also known as Tom Sipult)She also erased her birth date but you could still see it. Annie will marry two more times and have a total of five children. Annie lived in Illinois with her second husband,James Gibson …. Later, she marries Frank Gates who was a roomer at her home back in Oskaloosa after she is divorced from James Gibson. Children.. John Sypolt/ Sipult 1883-1920 Emma Faye Sipult Brons 1885- married Charles Henry Brons in Fulton County Illinois.. October 21, 1903 Faye later married Frank Marion Chambers in 1930 in Illinois Fern Gibson 1885 Blanch Gibson Lynch 1893 Rosco Gibson 1900.. 1865.. Anna Whitaker born in Iowa to James and Jane Fuller Whitaker. March 13, 1865. According to family bible. 1881 …. August 2 Anna Married John Sypult….. Anna was 15 and John was 20 John was the son of Harrison Sipult and Elizabeth Bowers… Ollie B Sipult married Charles Whitaker who was Annie's brother… Never found any John Sipult in that family. He was always listed at Tom. Maybe his real name was John and went by Tom… They named their son John. (Sypult and Sipult are constantly interchanged in the records.) 1883…. Had son .. named him John Sypult… His birth was listed as October 30, 1883 on a registration for the draft He lived with Anna Gates at that time… Jane Fuller Whitaker Evans left $400. to the guardian of John Sipult in her will for his care. (Would have been her grandson.) 1885….Had daughter Emma Faye Sipult with Tom Sipult. She was born in July. 1889….. Anna married James J. Gibson (24) son of William Gibson and Matilda Pierce on January 26, 1889 James Gibson was from New Jersey. Annie says that she is 20 on the forms but is really 24 at this time. The woman never tells the truth on her forms. She even erased her birthday in the bible but you can see the correct year. 1900…. Anna and James Gibson are living in Moline Illinois. They have five children John, Faye, (first two are from her first marriage to Sipult) Fern, Blanche, Ross are the other children. 1908.. Picture of Faye, her daughter Gertrude, and Lola Whitaker together taken in Canton, Illinois. They are double cousins. Lola's mother is Olive Sipult who is a sister to Tom Sipult. Fay married Charles Henry Brons on October 21, 1903 and lived in Canton Illinois. This picture was in the album kept by Olive Sipult. 1910…. Mrs. Anna Gibson in Census… is 42 and divorced. (She never tells real age on any form.. always lists herself younger except on first marriage where she listed herself older. ) Her son John is living with her. Frank Gates is living with her as a boarder. He is a coal miner and from England. Was naturalized in 1888 1918….. John Sipult… son of Anna and Tom files for World War I is living with Anna Gates by now She is married to Frank Gates. They are living at 916 6th Ave W. in Oskaloosa. 1920… Anna now married to Frank Gates ( the roomer from 1910) . Anna is now 50.. only aged eight years. She should be 55. John Sipult 32 is still living with them. 1930….. Anna is still with Frank Gates. She says she is 63 now. This is the closest it has ever been. (Actually, she is 65…never once on anything did she give her real age.) John Sipult is not living with them. Frank is a coal miner. 1938… Frank A Gates is listed as passed away. Frank is buried in the Old White Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
