Mrs. Waters suffered a stroke several months ago and since that time has been gradually failing in health and was bedfast for many weeks before her death. For many years the family resided on a farm near Mt. Etna but Mr. and Mrs. Waters moved to Massena about a year ago. Anna Barry, daughter of James and Catherine Barry, was born in Wicklow County, Ireland, November 15, 1865. She came to the United States with her parents when she was six months old. For some time the family resided in New York, later coming to Clinton, Iowa where they lived a short time. They then moved to Adams County where she lived with her parents until January 18, 1883 when she was united in marriage to Thomas T. Waters. To this union were born twelve children, namely: Sara Monaghan of Kinross, Iowa; E. A. Waters, Mt Etna; Mae Moore, Corning; Ann McGrath, Omaha; James E. Waters, Corning; Ella McKenna, Florence Denton, and Lloyd Waters, all of Kinross; Laura Dougherty, Massena; Thomas B. Waters, Long Beach, California; Francis J. Waters, Nodaway; William T. Waters preceded his mother in death thirteen years ago. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her husband, T. T. Waters; one sister, Mrs. James Cullen of Mt. Etna and three brothers, Pat Barry of Everett, Washington, James Barry of Cromwell, and M. F. Barry of Corning. She had thirty-eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. It is difficult to express in mere words the fine qualities of this model Christian woman. During the many years that Mr. and Mrs. Waters resided on the farm, their home was always open and a most cordial welcome awaiting their many friends. The hospitality of the Waters home was marked by the kindliness and true friendship of the mother. She was an affectionate wife, a loving mother, and a friend to all who knew her. Call not back the dear departed, anchor'd safe where storms are o'er; On the border land we left her. Soon to meet and part no more. Far beyond this world of changes. Far beyond this world of care. We shall find our missing loved on in our Father's mansion fair. Funeral services were held from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Massena, Saturday morning. Rev. Father P. A. Flavan officiated at the services assisted by Rev. Father D. Dower of Reno. Pall bearers were three sons and three grandsons, E. A. Waters, James E. Waters, Francis J. Waters, Francis Monaghan, Bernard Moore, and Earl Waters. Interment was made in the Reno cemetery. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Anna McGrath, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Dougherty, Mr. and Mrs. James Waters, Atlantic; Wilbur Barry of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Aeldred Curry and Mr. and Mrs. James Waters, Red Oak; Hubert Barry and Mrs. Edwin Mack, Des Moines; Mrs. Kate Wickham and son Tom Slak, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Waters, Creston; Mr. and Mrs. James Dougherty, Mrs. Elwood Travis, and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Tolland of Winterset, and also a great many from surrounding communities.
