Description	:	Anna Belle was born on February 12, 1920, in rural Marion County, near Monroe, Iowa to William and Nola Kain May. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural schools. During her high school years she lived in Long Beach, California and graduated from high school there. She was married to Woodrow Jones in California and they had two daughters, Diane and Alyce. Read More	Anna Belle was born on February 12, 1920, in rural Marion County, near Monroe, Iowa to William and Nola Kain May. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural schools. During her high school years she lived in Long Beach, California and graduated from high school there. She was married to Woodrow Jones in California and they had two daughters, Diane and Alyce. The marriage ended in divorce and she moved to Gilman, Iowa. On March 22, 1948, she married Walter A. 'Jake' Barnes in Long Beach. Anna Belle and Jake lived in Grinnell following their marriage. They owned and operated two gas stations and a tank wagon service in Grinnell. She also worked in the food service of the Grinnell School System and as a sales clerk for Squire's Home Decorating and Graham's Department Store. She lived at Seeland Park in Grinnell since 1998. Anna Belle was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi and the Netaker Temple #11 of the Daughter's of the Nile. She enjoyed collecting crystal, bells, coins, and shopping. Surviving are her son, Rick Barnes of Grinnell; three daughters, Linda Harbin of Grinnell, Diane Ewalt of Mansfield, Texas, and Alyce Van Gilder of Denver, Colorado; two step-daughters, Beverly Lyons of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Carol Hampton of Stafford, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
