''''''''''''''''''''''''' Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), October 17, 1929, p. 4, cols. 2 & 3 Mrs. Anton Rejda, a resident of this vicinity for forty-six years passed away at her home, north of Brainard, last Thursday evening at the age of fifty-nine years, three months and nine days. She had been in poor health for the past couple years, but her death was due to pneumonia which she contracted but a few days before her death. Anna Bures was her maiden name and she was born in Ropotice, Moravia on July 3, 1870. When she was thirteen years of age her parents moved to America and settled in east Butler County. For five years she worked in Omaha and then on Sept. 21, 1889 she was united in marriage to Anton Rejda at the Holy Trinity church in Brainard, by Rev. Father Bauer. They have resided continuously in this vicinity ever since, Mr. Rejda being employed as a section laborer and later as a farmer. Of ten children born to them Mr. and Mrs. Rejda eight of them preceded their mother to the life beyond. All of them died in infancy or childhood except one son, Anton, who at the age of 22 was killed in action on the battlefields of France during the World War. He was buried in Oise Aisne Cemetery at Aisne, France. The local post of the American Legion is named in his honor. Mrs. Rejda was a devout Christian woman, a good and self-sacrificing mother and she patiently bore her burdens and afflictions. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Frank and James, also by one brother, Frank Buresh, of Valparaiso, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Prinz of Surprise and Mrs. Antonia Prochaska of David City. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Holy Trinity Catholic church in Brainard by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Klein and burial was in the Brainard Catholic cemetery. Six members of the American Legion acted as pall bearers and members of the Rosary Society and also of the Legion Auxiliary, of which she was an honorary gold-star member, attended the services in a body. ____ We take this means of expressing our sincere thanks to all who extended us help and sympathy in our time of sorrow; also for the lovely flowers.
