Harms was born in Fremont, Dodge county, Nebraska on August 28, 1879, was married to James E. Johnson July 26, 1899 at Fremont, where they resided for three years and then moved to Knox county, Nebraska, where they have made their home ever since. Their marriage was blessed with nine children, four sons and five daughters, Lyle A., Clyde R., Grace C., Ethel P., Helen M., Julia A., Erma V., Franklin J., Allen C. Mrs. Johnson has been in failing health for the past eighteen months, during which time she underwent a surgical operation and had spent many weeks in Omaha in the Presbyterian hospital, where tender nursing carried her through and everything within the power of medical skill and loving hands was done. She was a patient sufferer, never giving up the hope someday she would be able to return home to her loved ones, but the faint spark of life refused to longer respond on Friday evening, October 20, 1922 and she fell sweetly asleep. "Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep, from which none ever wake to weep." The remains arrived in Creighton from the Presbyterian hospital in Omaha, Sunday afternoon and were taken to the farm home northeast of Winnetoon. Short funeral services were held at the family home, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock and the final services were held in the Danish Lutheran Church of Winnetoon of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. Neilsen, pastor and interment made in the Creighton cemetery. The floral offerings were of exceptional beauty and were a silent tribute of the esteem in which the deceased was held by all.
