Mrs. Wendling was born in Rose township, Shelby County, January 18, 1861, a daughter of the late Captain Edward Roessler and Anna Roessler. Her maiden name was Anna Catherine Roessler. On June 17, 1884 she was united in marriage to George Wendling. Mr. and Mrs. Wendling resided for many years in Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo. They had moved back to Shelbyville on account of the failing health of Mrs. Wendling. Surviving besides her husband were three sons, Adolph E. Wendling, Shreveport, La.; Clarence F. Wendling, St. Louis, Mo.; George R. Wendling, Omaha, Neb.; grandson, Adolph E. Wendling, Jr. and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Minnie R. Bence, Keokuk, Iowa; Col. S. W. Roessler, Bridgeport, Conn.; J. E. Roessler, Los Angeles, Calif.; David Roessler, Houston, Texas and Charles Roessler, Mrs. Adolph Reiss and Henry Roessler, all of Shelbyville. Funeral services were to be from St. Paul's Lutheran Church with interment in Glenwood Cemetery.
